Merced CA senior Cole McKain won the Division 3 boys 3-mile race in 15:53.1 to produce the fastest overall time of the meet at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Subsection meet at Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. McKain improved from third at last year's meet in 16:27.4 and helped Merced finish fourth with 110 points. McKain is looking to become Merced's first boys individual champion since Daniel Ambriz captured the Division 2 crown in 2015 when he competes Nov. 16 at the section final at the Willow Hills Course in Folsom.
